Water & Air Research, Inc. (Water & Air) was founded on September 30, 1970. The founders were a highly credentialed group of engineers and scientists with close ties to the University of Florida’s Department of Environmental Engineering. The company’s first brochure stated, “The symbol we’ve chosen depicts the atmosphere, the water, and the land as a unified whole. Our services span the spectrum of ecology, broadly defined as the study of the relationships between organisms and their environment. Water & Air was formed in response to a need—an interdisciplinary approach to developing solutions for environmental problems.” Over the years, the symbol, with only minor refinements, has remained the same, as has the company’s commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to solving environmental challenges.

Throughout the 1980s and 90s, we expanded our environmental consulting services in response to growing regulatory requirements and increased demand for environmental assessments, remediation, and planning. We built lasting partnerships with federal agencies, supported major infrastructure and development projects, strengthened our expertise in environmental permitting and impact studies, and established long-term client relationships that continue today, while growing our staff and broadening our capabilities across the Southeast.

Over the recent decades, Water & Air has continued to grow by expanding our expertise in environmental consulting, water resources, ecological sciences, environmental engineering, and regulatory compliance. We have strengthened long-standing partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies while supporting a diverse portfolio of projects involving water quality monitoring, groundwater investigations, environmental permitting, habitat assessments, seagrass and coral surveys, environmental planning, and contamination assessment. Investments in advanced field technology, scientific capabilities, and a multidisciplinary team have positioned us to address emerging environmental challenges while maintaining the high level of technical expertise and client service that has defined the company for more than 50 years. With a growing staff of more than 35 professionals, Water & Air remains committed to delivering practical, science-based solutions and continuing its tradition of innovation and growth.
